Fall Field Day

Calling all industry professionals to attend Forrest Keeling Nursery's Fall Field Day, Thursday, September 17.  Join us for our biennial professional event to learn more about Forrest Keeling's RPM-produced trees and plants... the best plants on today’s market! RPM delivers unmatched results that nearly guarantee the success of your toughest projects. You'll also hear presentations on premier specialty crop trees, and green solutions for difficult applications.

This year's presentations will emphasize specialty crops, conservation, permaculture and agroforesty.

We are excited to announce Mark Shepard, author of the paradigm-shifting book, Restoration Agriculture, will be our featured speaker. Mark will show how hs alternative real-world practices can provide benefits of both healthy, perennial ecosystems and productive agrocultural systems, drawing on his experience establishing his 106-acre Viola, Wisconsin farm. Mark’s perennial farm ecosystem includes free roaming animals, restored soils, carbon sequestration and water stewardship. A system that Mark believes could revolutionize farming and restore healthy, agricultural lands across our country.

We’ll round out our slate this year with experts from government, academia and private consulting.

Stuart Miller, Missouri Department of Conservation, will speak on the importance of fertile soils and clean water as well as the role of government in helping citizens to protect both.

William McAdams, McAdams Consulting, Swisher, Iowa, is a leading Midwest authority on tree insect and disease issues and particularly known for his expertise in timing treatments to maximize benefits and minimize pesticide usage. William’s presentation will focus on treatment of oak galls

Gene Garrett, University of Missouri-Columbia Professor Emeritus, has presented at many of our Fall Field Days and with good reason.  Gene is both a crowd favorite and an expert on agroforestry and specialty crops. Gene’s Fall Field Day presentation on specialty crops will draw on some of his current research in developing temperate zone agroforestry systems.

Ken Dalrymple has worked to advance the Cuivre Island Mississippi Bottomland Forest Restoration project for “17 years and counting”. Ken will offer a presentation on his work as a valued consultant on floodplain conservation and trees.

If you plan to stay over in the area, we recommend the Drury Hotel, St. Peters or the Super 8 at Troy, Missouri.
