Wells Pawpaw produces very large fruit and is an award winning variety. Individual fruits with banana-like flavor and creamy texture weigh up to a pound. 'Wells' bears fruit earlier than other varieties, in three years or less.

Interesting Notes:

Nutritious as well as delicious, the greenish yellow 3" to 6" Pawpaw fruit is high in protein and a good source of vitamins and minerals. Ornamental tree has unusual dark purple flowers that appear before the large tropical looking foliage. Pawpaws can be grown in shade or sun, however in cooler regions we recommend choosing a warm, sunny location for best fruit ripening.

Paw Paws are valuable food for raccoons, opossums and other mammals. Pawpaw leaves are the larval food source for the Zebra Swallowtail butterfly.
